Book Cover Redesign
Print Design, Photography
For this project, two different book covers, one focusing on photography and another focusing on geometric patterns, were created for two different art-related books. The first was Olafur Eliasson’s Unspoken Spaces, for which photography was used due to the sculptural focus of the book. The second was John Cage’s Color in Art, where the pattern style was used for its closer fit to the subject material. The photo-based cover is anchored by a custom-made sculptural piece working with light that interacts with its environment in the way that many of Eliasson’s works do. The Color in Art cover plays on a pattern system with visual components of varying complexity that layer over and interact with each other. A bright and rich color scheme defines the interaction of these elements, creating a vibrant quilt-like visual.
